Sinfully Yours
Finland, which draws inspiration for its music from the virtues, vices and sinful aspects of everyday life. The band was founded in 2008, but didn't find its present form until 2010. Exhilarated by the changes and new formation, Sinfully Yours continued writing new songs and toured various clubs in Finland. In January 2011, the band recorded a mini album with Aksu Hantu, a producer and drummer for the Finnish metal band Entwine, which is due to be published later on this year. If you are interested in booking Sinfully Yours for an event / concert, please contact our office. Hello Arto, thank you for taking the time to answer a few questions for us. Let me start
by asking some thing that’s burning on my mind. "Sinfully Yours" is an interesting name .
How did you come up with it?
Well… It all started from my last name. =) Sirkiä. I wanted the band name to start with S (or
maybe Si) so that maybe in the future, I might design a ‘S’ logo for the band. I also wanted the
name to contain something like: Sin, Sinner… and so on … In the end, a friend of mine came up
with / invented the name ”Sinfully Yours”.
You describe your music style as melodic metal / dark rock. Can you tell me a little more
about it ?
How would you describe it? =) I don’t like to be placed in one or two “genre boxes”! We have
different kinds of songs and all of them can’t be put into one category or particular style. That’s
why we just like to call it: modern metal, melodic metal and dark rock. Those descriptions sound
fine to me, will do the job.
Even the most famous bands are often not only inspired by events in their lives, or
things happening in the world, but also by other artists. Are you influenced by other
bands, and if so, by who and why?
I’m personally influenced by many bands, but just to name couple Poisonblack, Sentenced,
Charon, Entwine… and other Finnish metal bands come to my mind.
Your first full length album will come out this summer. Did you decide on a name yet?
We’re heading to the studio next summer, yes. At this point, we’re planning an “EP” (short
album) that contains 5-6 songs. We haven’t decided on a name yet, but the working title at the
moment is: Zero Tolerance. Its kinda like an inside joke, but also has a true meaning for us…
Can you tell us if it will be a world-wide release ? For example, will your fans be able to
buy it from amazon.com?
At this point, I dunno, maybe. You can always get a copy of our CD by contacting us: sinfully.
yours.band@gmail.com and we’ll ship internationally!
Sinfully Yours was founded in 2008, but didn't find its present form until 2010. Would
you mind introducing your members to readers who aren't yet familiar with you?
Jani Hatakka, bass. He's a great musician. Great guy. Real bad-ass bass player! Good sense of
humor and he has also a good idea of what I'm after in my songs.
Eetu Partala, drums. Excellent drummer and a “workaholic” on drums. =)
When the rest of us are resting at home or goin’ crazy … Eetu is in our rehearsal studio,
practicing his techniques. Real “spanker” for us. =)
Benjamin Varonen, vocals. Let’s call him simply “The Man with the Voice”! Great and talented
singer! Benjamin has a truly unique and charismatic sound & voice.
I’m doing my best to write songs to make full use of his talent. All the way from the deep lows to
the high crispy ends. Real heart breaker.
A lot of big name s in the music business have come from Finland. HIM , Nightwish,
Lordi, Entwine, Sonata Arctica, just to name a few. Are you ready to follow into their
footsteps and conquer the rest of the world, mainly the American market with your
sound?
Sure! =D
Me and the rest of the band have really big hopes for the upcoming EP. We will have solid and
fast rock songs, and of course those soul touching ballads!
